Let the festivities resume...

It finally stopped raining on Memorial Day after a week and a half of the wet stuff.

This weekend we spent the day Saturday at the beach.

We will be going to North beach the rest of tourist season since the main beach is extremely crowded as you can see. We normally play football, Frisbee, volleyball, etc while there but this trip we could barely boogie board it was so crowded everywhere.

After the beach we stopped at our favorite restaurant (Bonna Bella) that has been closed for a few month from a fire. It opened Friday night.

Austin stealing Brent's classic pose of thumbs up in every picture.

Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain

There is a tropical storm swirling around Florida and the top of it is into Georgia. Normal weather patterns come from the West and disintegrate to nothing by the time they hit Coastal Georgia, or maybe a storm. This weather is coming off the Ocean and is not a normal storm type of rain...it is all day rain. After a week and a half of it, the natives are getting restless.
The May average for Rincon weather are 3.61 inches of rain, so far this month we are at 7.44 inches and counting.
Also, since no one is accustom to rain, EVERYTHING gets cancelled because of rain (hence no posts lately).

Everything gets cancelled, except GP day. GP day is your basic middle school field day hosted by a group of volunteers from the mill and paid for by the mill. This year my friend Christine and I led the activity. This meant 1000 middle schooler's, 120 faculty and ~25 volunteers from the mill were looking to us for direction for the last 4 hours of school for the year (last day of school was Friday). Thanks to the rain rather than having events spread out on the football field, baseball field and a gym...we had 1200 people in a gymnasium trying to play games with toilet paper. Sheesh what a day. Christine and the mill photographer got some photos so maybe I'll put some up later. Sorry for the boring post.

Austin's New Job

Austin started working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers this past Monday. So far he is really enjoying his new job. It will be nice for us to get back to a normal schedule. Currently he is assigned to Fort Stewart which is ~45 minutes away. He will also be working out of the Savannah office and at Hunter Army Air Field (in Savannah) which are both very close. We are excited about the new adventure for him.

Happy Birthday and Mother's Day!

My mom came out to visit us this past week for her birthday (which happened to also be Mother's Day). We spent a couple days in Savannah, a day in Charleston (with Brent) and a day at the beach. We had a great time, thanks for coming mom! Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. (note - I can't get the comments to line up correctly, so you'll have to use some reasoning while viewing).

At Hutchinson Island (which is Savannah Harbour)

At Tubby's at River Street having dinner.

Brent and Austin at Battery Park in Charleston, we happened to be there on the Confederate Memorial Day so we saw some cannon firings from the car while passing by battery park the first time.
