Sunday Brunch

We had a nice Sunday Brunch on Hilton Head this morning looking out over the water.

We went to The Old Fort Pub which is an older but very nice restaurant on the water.

The old Fort Pub is at Fort Mitchel which was both a headquarters for the Confederate and Union Army’s at one point.

As you can tell the weather has been spring for a couple weeks now and we are thankful.  The 1 month winter we have is always enough.

It was a nice 84 degrees today, not humid yet, just comfortable.  We both really enjoy this time of year ‘til June before tourist and high heat/humidity arrive.

Week 37 Update

This morning we had an ultra sound to check in on Zachary.  He is estimated to be 6 lbs and 49% on pretty much every size test, even his leg bones which we were hoping would be extra long like his dad.

 BABY ZACHARY_4

The pictures from this visit are not great because they are zoomed in so much, but we enjoyed watching Zach stick out his tongue (which you can almost see in this picture), drinking, using his lungs, punching me and many other moves.

BABY ZACHARY_2

He had so much hair flowing around she measured and it is 1.4 cm long.  The contractions continue for me and are getting more painful, especially by the end of the day.

To end week 36 we had an amazing baby shower thrown by Allison and Kerri.

They had delicious food and animal decorations everywhere.

I was suppose to get a spa manicure the night before the shower to have pretty nails and because it would feel good right now.  But the spa cancelled on Allison and me the day of and no one else had openings.  So Austin being an amazing husband gave me a pedicure for 2.5 hours Saturday morning before the shower.  He even served me Dr. Pepper in a fancy glass.

It was the best pedicure I have had, sitting in the sun with the fam, listening to the birds is much more enjoyable than being at a spa.  He even did a pretty good job on the painting portion, especially for his first attempt.

Graduation

Daisy's Graduation

While Bo was the only one in the class that got CGC certified, Daisy and the other 4 dogs did graduate from intermediate training.  Here is her picture at the graduation ceremony tonight.  She learned many new tricks and has significantly improved on being comfortable around strangers.

Certified Good Dog

DSCN5658

As mentioned in earlier post we have been doing the intermediate dog training with Bo and Daisy.

In last week’s class Bo successfully completed all the 10 necessary tests with the instructor to become CGC (Canine Good  Citizen) certified.  This is the same test that dogs must complete to be therapy dogs for children or people with disabilities.

Daisy is making a lot of progress, but she doesn’t do well with the portions that involve strangers or other dogs approaching her yet, much better than when we started.  She is a rock star at the skills by command.

Surprise

100_0303

Some of my coworkers had a surprise baby shower for us today at the end of the day.  Austin knew about it because they asked him to come join.

100_0306

Held in the large conference room it was a nice gathering of people and very relaxed and fun.

100_0307

People gave us advice like keep the car at least half full of fuel (the hospital for delivery is ~40 minutes away and one of them had to stop for fuel while in labor) and start a scholarship fund with a large debate on which SEC school it should be for.

Cute overall outfit, we received many nice and thoughtful gifts for Zachary that we were not expecting.

I am about to finish week 35 and start week 36.  Finishing week 36 will be a good milestone.  I have been having contractions every 2 minutes for just over a week now.  I have to stay off my feet and while I am allowed to work, I just stay in my office or the front conference rooms.  When I get home I sit or lay, Austin even cooked this week.  As long as I stay resting they are not too painful, but sometimes they are regardless.  And I don’t do well with sitting around, but the increase pain reminds me quickly that I need to rest.  It was nice to have a fun light hearted event today.

Weekend House Projects

We had a lot of things we wanted to do with our week of vacation after Christmas that we didn’t get to with Austin being sick, but we have been making up for that by being very productive on weekends lately.

First is the shoe organizer.  Austin has been looking for a shoe organizer that fits all our shoes and the multiply sizes we have in one unit for about 3 years.  He decided since he couldn’t find one he like he should just make one.

DSCN5955

This is what we had in the area before.  After a couple years of living with Hawaiians we both picked up the habit of leaving all shoes outside the door.

DSCN5953

And today Austin turned 3 sheets of MDF (medium density fiberboard) into these.

DSCN5969

He made mine have a tall shelf for boots, which is all I had put on it at the time of the picture.

DSCN5972

Yes that is Daisy’s head sticking out the cat door admiring Austin’s shoe organizer.

DSCN5968

I am particularly proud of the slipper shelf he designed into the units.

And a couple pictures of him in the building process.

This weekend we also put together a dresser and rocking chair and bought an ottoman for the babies room.  When I say we I mostly mean Austin because I have started false labor and am not very helpful with physical things so I focused on completing our taxes and online shopping for the ottoman, making mailing labels, packing a hospital bag, etc.

DSCN5974

The color of the padding on the chair is not what we wanted, but we couldn’t find a good white or green color so we are going to put the green blanket with a monkey on it over the chair padding.

DSCN5975

To finish the attic organization which was really a lot about moving the office to upstairs we needed a place downstairs to keep papers so I wouldn’t leave them on the stairs (Austin gets mad when there is anything on the stairs).

DSCN5980

This is behind the laundry room door, an Inbox, “To File” box and “Deferred” or Unfinished Box as well as a bulletin board/magnetic board for things like the day care lunch menu when needed.

I went through a training process called Total Relaxed Organization (TRO) based off a recommendation from a co-worker and it has been fantastic.  This is where the "boxes” came from (although we kind of already did this).  I would highly recommend the training for anyone who has more than 20 e-mails in their inbox on a regular basis or thinks of things they need to do on a drive or shower or while trying to go to sleep.  I have gained ~2 hours of productive time/day at work.  Anyway…back to the post.

I don’t think I ever posted on the new washer and dryer and laundry room clean up.

DSCN5978

We wanted to install cabinets instead of the shelf above the washer and dryer but we made it work as is.

Yesterday I went to a couple gymnastic meets.  Here is a video of Taylor’s floor, the competition level is much better and therefore much more enjoyable for me to watch.

We are finishing the weekend watching the super bowl, yes WE are watching it.  Austin has been watching the play offs with me and really likes Clay Matthews.  He has gotten into football this year and is skipping his annual super bowl nap to actually watch the game.
