Pumpkin Carving and Halloween Night

We had people over Friday but never got around to the pumpkin carving.  So since the county decided they would mess with everyone’s Halloween plans and just change trick or treating to Saturday night we had to get our pumpkins carved Saturday afternoon.  It has been record temperatures (upper 80’s and some 90’s) this past week so we could carve them before this weekend anyway or they would rot.

Bo (and a little Daisy) waited patiently for permission to eat the pumpkin we were discarding.

It almost made me sad he was so well behaved waiting there staring at the scraps for a long time.

But don’t worry he ate PLENTY of pumpkin.  He ate every piece we cut out including a huge hole in the back of Austin’s for a chimney and some scraps.

Here is my finished product.

And here is Austin’s Masterpiece, he is by far the best pumpkin carver I have ever seen.  He does it all on his own without templates or instructions, just starts and makes something cool.

And Bo and Austin….I mean Darth Bo and Luke awaiting Trick or Treaters.

We also went to a dress up party at our friends down the road after trick or treating.  I didn’t want to wear the Amidala dress again because it is pretty large and difficult to get around in so I went as a witch that supports OSU.  Austin was a great Luke again.

Happy Halloween

We had a pumpkin carving dinner party on Friday evening.  We took pictures of the food before people arrived, but never used our camera once people were here.

This is a snake sandwich.  They looked even better after they were baked (but again didn’t take pictures then).  I made them and Austin did the paint job.  They actually were really easy and tasted delicious.

I’d highly recommend these straws for a party.  I was originally making them for the kids (3-8 range) but the families with that age of kids couldn’t come.  I made them anyway and they were probably the easiest thing we did and the thing the guests enjoyed the most.

Halloween Party

We went to a Costume party in the country this past weekend with a group of our friends.

Austin and I went as Luke Skywalker and Queen Amidala.

Allison was Leia and Chris Darth Vader, and their girls are store troopers.

Baby Furniture

A few weeks ago we put together the changing table for the baby.  Here is Austin working on the drawers.

Quickly became this:

This Saturday morning we put together the crib.

First with Austin reading the direction to Daisy.

Then with Daisy and Bo trying to read along for themselves.

The crib was MUCH simpler to put together and only took us a few minutes.

All the baby furniture together is starting to look like a babies room.  We still need to find a modern looking leather rocker, it’s been tough, but we have a few months still.

Trips

We don't have any pictures of recent adventures but to keep you updated on us I'll share.

Austin spent the weekend in Orlando last week and went to Haunted Nights. Universal Studios has 6 or more haunted houses that are very high quality, they open up their Island of Adventure park all decked out for Halloween for adults only (too scary for kids) from 6 pm -2 am. The vacation of the month club has had this trip planned since last November, but I decided to back out since the baby was not of age and would not be able to ride any of the rides with me or me ride without him. They spent the day laying by the pool, swimming and napping in the sun and the evening at the park. He had a great time.

Having the weekend with just me and dogs was relaxing, but lonely. I went to a wedding of a co-worker and stayed the evenings with our friends since I have been laying awake for large portion of the night lately.

Last weekend we put together the changing table for the baby. I took some pictures but don't have the camera with me so I will try to post them this weekend. We also had a nice date night on Hilton Head where we went shopping to get my first maternity pants and ate at a delicious fancy pizza place, which we already want to go back to this coming weekend.

Unfortunately this week we are both traveling for our respective employers. Austin is at Fort Bennings in Columbus and I am in Atlanta at our corporate office. Glad to be back home soon!

We'll try to post more frequently, there are a lot of activities coming up with Halloween and our next Ultra Sound around the corner.

It’s a Boy

We didn’t get any good profile pictures because the kid was spinning circles like a fish in water.  But here is a cute picture of the foot.

We have another Ultra Sound on Nov 3rd so we might have some better pictures after that one.

The decorations are up at our house and we are in full Fall mode.  The weather has cooperated as well.  It is starting to cool off into the 60’s at nights which provides beautiful sunny days that aren’t too hot finally.
