Happy Birthday Cousins

Yesterday was Zach’s cousin Gabe and cousin Jered’s 3rd birthday.  So we spent forever finding the software and driver for our web cam so he could video call them and wish them a happy birthday.

If anyone else wants to video call, we now have our camera working again so find us on Skype.

Baby Foot Prints

This morning we took hand and feet prints of Zach before he gets too much bigger.

Getting the feet prints wasn’t too hard, a lot easier than expected.

DSCN6570

The hand prints were very difficult since he wants to make a fist at all times especially when getting grumpy.

Then it was time for more bathing.

Which he still hates as you can tell.

He is getting big so quickly, at least he looks that way.  He has his 2 week weight check on Friday (even though he is 2 weeks on Thursday), but we are sure he is gaining weight well by the looks of his cheeks.

Recent Pictures

Here are some pictures from the past few days activities.  We have mostly been sticking around the house except for an afternoon walk or one of us taking a trip to the grocery store.

Austin’s Baby Tool Box.  Instead of not knowing where things are when needed, for example burp cloth or mouth suction blub Austin built this “tool box.”  It has 4 sections and keeps all things needed on a regular basis for the baby, monitor, suction bulb, timer, feeding/diaper logs, thermometer and other things that rotate in and out depending on the current stage Zach is in.  It is pretty handy and keeps up from having stuff everywhere but not having what we need.

Using the Moby wrap to be a hands free baby.  He seems to really like it, but we haven’t used it much with both of us being home.  Austin returns to work at the end of this week so then I am sure I will need a few moments of holding him hands free to get other tasks done.

Zach’s First Bath

He hates being bathed even more than he hates being changed.

DSCN6374

We had to stop for frequent breaks to calm him down.

DSCN6370

I am sure once we can do a tub bath with him he will enjoy it and be a good water baby.

Walk

Here are a few pictures of a short walk we took to the lake in our neighborhood today and other random events of day.  Tomorrow I’ll post pictures of Zach’s first bath at home but they are still on the camera.

Don’t worry Austin didn’t let him sit in the sun longer than a minute.  It is tough with a March birthday because he can’t wear sun screen until 6 months, but it is better to wear sun screen than to let him burn.  We try to keep him covered at all times for now so we don’t have to do either.

Bad/Good Kitty

We were told by many including the the nurse teaching the baby basics class that our dogs would be protective of me while pregnant and then of the baby.  So far, they could care less except he makes load noise sometimes Daisy doesn’t like.

Rajah however, laid against my stomach for the last few months of pregnancy and Wednesday when I was laying at home waiting for the contractions to be fast enough to go to the hospital she was rubbing her head into my stomach and following me around.  Now that he is home she is trying hard to snuggle up with him (which we won’t allow both because we just don’t trust her and because she is a cat and we don’t want her to make him stuffed up).

All 3 of us were in the other room for  few minutes today and came out to find this.

We don’t use the little storage bin she is sitting in anyway so I think we will remove it so she cant get cat hair all over near him.

Zachary and Daisy’s Appointments

We had a rough day and a half when we first left the hospital so we haven’t posted much but today Zach checked out well at his appointment.  He weighed 6 lbs 10.5 oz which is up just over an ounce from when we left the hospital.

DSCN6272

 DSCN6282

DSCN6259

He doesn’t have jaundice, but is at the upper limit for normal and when we left the hospital we were told to give him sun exposure (through the window) in 15 minute intervals throughout the day.

DSCN6271

DSCN6305

Such a little guy.

DSCN6245

Zach has been having reflux, which means he is not able to sleep here in his crib.  If we lay him flat it won’t last more than a few minutes before he starts crying and spitting up.

DSCN6253

So we know have a bassinet that Austin was able to put at an slight angle while we lay him down.  Doctor says he should grown out of it as the muscles develop.

Daisy’s Appointment did not go as well as Zach’s.  Her treatment options are leave it alone and it probably wont get worse, but won’t get better.  Or get orthopedic surgery which is expensive.  So we are going to wait a while and see how she is feeling.

Here are some other random pictures since we last posted.
