Road Trip

Today we headed south about 4 hours to Orlando for our first family vacation.

Stretching his legs at a rest stop. They both did well in the car but Z needed out after about 2 hours.

The view from our hotel room balcony.. Thank you to the government that all Marriotts have to giveDOD employees the perdiem rate, even the nice resort hotel. And we have a gift card to Marroitt from all my work travel, so pretty much free thanks to our employers. If you look to the left you can see the kid pool and then the slide tower which is still under construction.

The Epcot ball from our room.

The kid pool close up.

Z loved the pool, he played for a couple hours and did not want to leave. The pool was only 2 feet deep at the slide entrance so he could touch everywhere. Although he willing went under and started "swimming" once. I was very proud of my little baby.

Jeremiah started like this but quickly went to...
And then finally a passed out baby.
He slept for about 2 hours like this which made pool time more relaxing for us, but we didn't get to take him in the water. By the time he woke up it was dinner time.

We decided to eat at the restaurant at the pool since it was already 6 and that is dinner time for Z. It was also very relaxing and easy. Although Z is grumpy in this photo because he was asking for milk and not getting it.

Much better once he had food.
We finished up the night running around the resort. Literally.
And settled on the astroturf for some corn hole with Jeremiah as the judge.

Now the babies are sleeping with visions of Mickey in their heads and we are resting in the hotel room which gave me a minute to blog. Enjoy. I will get caught up on previous events even though I skipped ahead to today.

Savannah Children's Museum

Savannah recently opened phase 1 of a Children's museum in down town by the visitor's center.  We have attempted to take Zachary a couple times but it hasn't worked out until Friday.
School's, day care centers, etc are all closed for Good Friday.  So we took advantage of the day as a family day together down town.

Aunt Janna are you afraid of the alligator?

A portion of the museum is a maze.

But when you find a dead end there is a fun activity instead of dissapointment.

Our cat in the hat.  One section has big mirrors with different costumes hanging to play dress up.

The building is an old, I mean Really old, warehouse building at the railroad museum which is where trains and engines were built back in the day.  It has lots of little areas that stay nice and cool with the thick walls and being about 40 feet down.  The main street level is about in line with the windows in the below picture.

Family chilling at the wood block station.

Zachary enjoyed the fossil digging table the best.  It is sand, water, sea shells and plants.  The building behind us is being renovated (making sure it is structuring reinforced) and then will have two new large exhibits installed.  One will be based on a ship and the other is called Moon River Marsh which will have a wet lands type exhibit with some space stuff built in it looks like according to the picture.  The building also goes down about 40 feed like the one we were in on the other side.  It is much larger though!  Once this building is done Phase 1 will be completed and hopefully the museum will be successful enough to also do Phase 2 which is another building that size on the other side.

The railroad had one of the old trains giving rides up the track and back.  It cost extra so we didn't do that this day but Z got very excited every time the train blew it's whistle and went by the children's museum building.  If we were down in the lower part we had to go climb the stairs to see it before it rounded the corner.

He did this for a long time, we will probably dig up some sand and put it in a bucket for him in the backyard soon.  We could burry some sea shells too.

Zachary enjoys seeing the horses carriages also when we are in down town.

We ate at a new burger place that has a beautiful outdoor patio with large shade umbrellas.  And yes, the square black object in the center is a HD projector that plays onto that entire wall.  Talk about a fun way to watch the final four.

We finished the day at City Market and watching the kids play in the fountain at Ellis Square.  Thankfully Zachary had no desire to go play in the water with the others.  It is clean (salt water treated fountain) but I don't think we had a change of clothes for the poor kiddo.
