Date Night Update

Since we have had a few weeks of doing the date night jar I thought I would update the blog with some of our dates.

Our first at home date was Paris Night.  But I really wanted to play cards.  I turned it into Paris night in the hotel because whenever we stay in hotels we play cards at night while the babies are sleeping.

We played cards and enjoyed french bread rolls, a few different types of cheeses, pears and a wine sampler that we received for Christmas.  It was fun and allowed us to laugh a few times.  The wine wasn't the best but it was interesting to have little 150 mil samples bottles to try.

The next weekend we had a campfire with s'mores and watched a movie outside.

This has been one of our favorite things to do at home before the date jar too.  We enjoy the back porch and both the fire pit and lounge chair areas.
This is a self picture on River Street looking at the island side of Tallmage Bridge.  We received a dinner out award for work so we went to The Chart House Savannah.  We both like the Olde Pink House better, but it was good to try somewhere new.  Then we walked around downtown for a while after and purchased a frozen treat for Zachary.  While walking around Savannah we ran into three different couple we know, interesting how big but also little Savannah is.

We also did a few family dates out where we went to breakfast and then the Father's Day activities at the beach.  Last week our date was fixing the air conditioner and it appears that it today's date as well.  It stopped working again yesterday evening.  We spend some time in the attic and found a failure in one of our ducts which is probably overloading the compressor.  We are looking forward to building our next home ourselves so we don't have to deal with poor quality!

Jeremiah 8 Months Old

Our littlest guy is 8 months old already.

Showing off a silly face.

He is our littlest baby but he is a big boy.  We don't have stats and percentiles this month since there isn't a well visit at 8 months.  But we can tell you he is steady in the 18 to 24 month clothing size (pictured is 24 month) and doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.  Austin calls him "sturdy."

'Miah likes to have a toy in his hands most the time.  Tigger is a favorite, but it really can be any toy.

He does very well at seeing items and reaching toward them, then grabbing and bringing that item back to him.  This is frustrating when you don't want him to get something, but a good sign he is progressing along well.

Thankfully he has remained a calm, chill baby and enjoys being around his family as his main source of entertainment.

Jere now has two teeth, the second tooth on the bottom came in on his 8 month birthday.  He also is eating his squash like a champ.  He will down a full jar easily in one setting.  We are still working on other veggies.  He will eat them, but it is work instead of him wanting to eat.  We started with squash and it took almost two weeks of trying before he loved that flavor.  It is fun to feed a child who actually is able to and enjoys eating.

Jeremiah is able to get around by pulling himself and sliding as Austin caught in the video above.  This was the first time he was able to move like this.

Then today, Sunday June 23rd he actually got up on all fours and officially crawled a little.  He will be fully mobile and all around the house in no time.  The video is from just after he crawled, he got up on all fours but didn't crawl while we were filming him.

Jeremiah sucking on a frozen teething raspberry.  It was more to try to keep him cool in the Georgia summer with no AC then for teething.  He is sweating in the photo.  Miah has been drooling like a fool, which could indicate more teeth coming in the near future.

Happy 8 month birthday littlest!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to Austin, the best dada possible!

He woke up and Zachary carried Austin's "Dad Book" out to Austin and gave it to him.  It was very sweet.

They sat and read it together, Zachary was able to help some this year, he colored a picture for Austin.

We put the babies in the car right after they woke and Austin and Z were able to read through the book and headed to Hilton Head Island.

Austin's first choice was to stop at Stack's and get a good breakfast in us.  Breakfast out is one of his favorite things for us to do.

Miah again preferred to be up at the table with us.

We were on the beach around 9 or 9:30 which allowed us to have some space and let Z run.

And dig.  For the first hour or two he was perfectly content with the different types of sand and playing with his shovel.  The last hour or two he was in the ocean non stop and was not happy when he made him leave.

Jere pretty much rolled around the beach towel and chilled.  He and I read a magazine together, which he loved to see the pictures of other babies and to tear the pages.

Beach bottle time.

Z warming up to the idea of swimming.

No caption necessary.

Austin and Z brought me a flower for my hair.

Z kind of looks like a photo of big foot here.  If I blurred the photo a little it could work.

Jeremiah and I hit the water with Z and Austin for a while.  Jere did not like the waves crashing over them.  He was fine when he first sat down, but with each wave he screamed.

He was relaxed and enjoyed chilin' in the water with daddy.  I didn't love them being out like this because the water isn't clear out there.

I dried him off and he played on the towel again in his happy way.

I was pleasantly surprised that we could spend the whole morning at the beach with two babies and have  relaxing and enjoyable time.

We stayed just a little too long, the boys both needed a nap.  This is in the car before we even pulled out of the parking spot.  Passed out 'Miah.

And about a mile down the road.

Lap full of love at bed time.

Z man isn't grumpy, just tired.  He is in his bed time routine and will be passed out in a few minutes after we lay him in his bed.

Happy Father's Day Love!

Big Boy Z

I was at a baby shower last Saturday and Austin was cleaning the floor while the babies napped.  And then Zachary was standing in the hallway crying looking at him.  Z hasn't even attempted to climb out of his crib so we weren't expecting this, although he is big enough to move to the toddler crib.  So I cam home from the shower and went into to Z's room to find this.

Big boy bed.  He covers about seven miles in his sleep, neither of us had an expectations he would stay in the bed. He doesn't intentionally get out of bed, but he falls out and slides around the floor.  We added a bed rail after a couple days and that keeps him in the bed for the night.

We also started assigning him chores.  He feeds the dogs everyday.  It only took about three days before he did it on his own.  He absolutely has the capability to be assigned chores and do them, we just hadn't started.  He also picks up his own toys & takes out the garbages with dada.  There are some other options chores like putting away the laundry, sweeping the floor, etc.
We didn't think he would value money and instead introduced the "chore ball."  For each completed chore he receives a chore ball that he puts into the chore jar that we keep on the mantel.

Then if he wants to watch a Mickey Mouse episode, have a popsicle of other type treats he turns in a chore ball for the reward.  I thought there was no way he would understand it being only two but was amazed at how able kids are to learn work for reward.  He will go get a Mickey movie bring it to me and say chore ball?

We are still working on his understanding that even though he has a chore ball he can't watch Mickey any time he wants.  Especially when it is time to go to school in the morning.

If you didn't notice, I took him to get a hair cut yesterday.  The lovely mop has been reduced down to a normal hair cut.
