While the goal was to catch fish, I enjoyed watching dolphins and snorkeling the best. There were many dolphins playing with us throughout the day.
Captain Steve slowed the boat to about 20 MPH so the dolphins would swim along side of us. I took these pictures from the bow looking down into the water. Once you get a mile or away from where the Savannah River enters the ocean the ocean water is so clear and blue it is amazing. We also saw many flying fish and went snorkeling at a reef with Barracudas (took a while to get me in the water with those), Snapper and Cobia.
Kerri and I with our first (Kerri) and 3rd (me) place platters.
A barracuda I got but isn’t worth points in the tourney or good to eat so we released him. But still fun to catch. I got this before we went swimming with them which is why I was hesitant to get in the water. You should see the teeth on that thing!
The tower in the back ground is an old Navy research tower about 50 miles off shore which acts as an artificial reef for the fish.
Captain Janelle driving the boat. The Ocean was calm that day, we are going about 30 miles per hour 50 miles out and no waves.

Kerri and I taking our fish to the weigh in.
Slammer II fishing team with the winning Cobia Kerri caught. I caught a few big fish but the only ones I could weigh in for points in the tournament were Bass.
It was a great day with many fun memories. Of course it was hard to be off shore where there is no phone service for 14 hours, but definitely worth it. Austin and Zach had a fun Daddy and Baby day which they haven’t ever been able to do before.
And for good measure here are some recent pictures of Baby Z.
