Dog Training

We have been working on socializing Daisy for a couple months so that she is not scared/shy when she meets new people and especially new dogs.

We have been doing a few things with her one of which is intermediate dog training at Pet Smart.  Our friend’s Mike and Katie who also have shelter dogs are in the class with us which makes it more fun.

This evening we went for a walk and worked on some of their skill.

Here is a picture of Austin and Daisy after she just completed the command “finish.”

This is Bo in the middle of the “finish” command.  He does fantastic as long as we don’t wait until too late in the evening to work on his training.  After he has settled in his bed and let his joints sit moving around isn’t worth the treat for him.

Daisy in the middle of the finish.  She is a great learner and will get in almost all the position with only verbal commands.  She doesn’t needs treats or even Austin to do the hand motions.  Quit an advanced puppy.

Bo thinking he deserves a treat for sitting by my side.  Bo is learning and it is a good class for him, but he doesn’t get as much out of it as Daisy.  The class goes until 8:30 and he tends to lay down and sprawl out in the middle because it’s a little too late for the old man.

Poor ole Bo. I guess that's why they say "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". Plus, I totally understand about once you get sitting down for the evening - it's hard to get moving again! Glad Daisy is enjoying it!
