We have been missing the Fall environment with hay mazes, pumpkin patches, apple cider, orange/red leaves, etc. So Allison did some searching and found a new farm about an hour away that has a hay maze and pumpkin patch. We all piled in the Veracruz and headed for the farm for the day.
Zach posing next to one of the pumpkins playing the role of cutest baby on the block.
First up was the hay maze. Being experience in a hay maze this didn’t take us all day. It made us laugh that after the first acre or so they have an exit this way if you are tired sign.
The answer to one of the questions to guide us through the maze was how many ears of corn does a corn stalk have on average? And the answer is? 1-2. So we searched around in the corn looking for a stalk that had 2 ears of corn.
The classic John Deere tractor pulling other random barrels with people sitting in them train. We felt like pretty big dorks riding around the farm but the kids had a good time.
Zach and Austin tucked into their car on the train. There was also a hay ride but we passed on that option.
Not something you see at the average Fall Farm. A Cotton Jump, a large trailer full of cotton freshly picked for kids to play in. It seems a little rough to me because it still has the seeds in it.
Taylor trying to pick the seeds out of the cotton.
Below is one of Austin’s favorite activities of the day. A corn cannon. It is a standard gas cylinder loaded with compressed air with a ball valve opening into a small cylinder just the right size for a piece of corn. If you open quickly the corn goes flying. There is a trailer set up about 50 yards away with a large net to aim the corn into the trailer. None of us hit the target, but it was fun trying.
Another favorite activity was the zip line. Not quit the Costa Rica version, but a good addition to a day at the farm. It is strung from the top level of the barn in the background so you jump out the top level of the barn and slide across to the cotton jump area.
And what farm isn’t complete without a few animals. Zachary was a little entertained with them but he was entertained with the corn stalks too so take that for what it is worth. This cow was born on Sept 17th of this year. They also had a puppy, baby goats, baby pigs and a donkey.
The only two brave enough to ride the “bronco” were Pip and Taylor. I’m pretty sure they both made their 8 seconds but then we dumped them.

Can you say grease ball? At his first 6 month check up visit we were given the green light to use sun screen on Zach. This weekend was the first time we have had him out in the sun much since he has been sick. So I slathered the sun screen on his legs, head, neck and ears. He didn’t get burned so I guess it worked. I actually forgot his hat I would have preferred he had that on too. He smelled great all day though!
Baby Z and me searching for a pumpkin, alright he was sleeping and I was searching.
We did the pumpkin patch at the end and he was so tired he passed out. It was nice to get a little Fall feeling and activities in even though it is 80 degrees. Zachary was suppose to wear his overalls to look extra adorable in the pumpkin patch but I couldn’t justify it since he was sweating in his Halloween shirt already. Then we went to our friend’s house to complete the Haunted ginger bread houses which I’ll put some pictures up about later.

This looks like such a fun day!! I can't imagine looking for pumpkins in 80 degree weather though. Ours was in the 60s and we thought that was great! We'll be anxious to see all the haunted houses and carved pumpkins!!
