Beer Brewing

Austin received a home beer brewing kit for his birthday as well as various recipe kits and other supplies from many people.  It takes a few hours one weekend to brew, and then a couple hours the next to bottle and then you have beer.

The bottling phase.

We already knew Daisy likes beer, if set on the ground outside she will probably get some of the drink.  But she was just obnoxious with it as Austin tried to bottle.  The initial poor off waste goes into a bowl which she is licking up in this picture.

And putting the caps on the filled bottles.

Then they sit in a room temperature, dark place for a week to carbonate and are ready to put in the fridge.

And Austin enjoying the first batch of Auzzy Ale by the campfire this past Saturday night.  He made a Porter for his first try at home brew.  Next time he’ll let it ferment longer than the instruction, the alcohol content was in the 4.5% range instead of 5 or 6 like a traditional porter.

That is so fun! We just tried brewing with my sister over the last few weeks and it is really rewarding ;)
