I have been behind on blogging for a couple months and will be attempting to get caught up in th next week or so. Although we have a lot of activities in the next week so that will add to the blog list. Here's a start...Zachary and I spent the day together January 31st. He had a dentist appointment in the late morning so we had a picnic lunch after and then we went to the children's museum. Except the children's museum is closed on Wednesdays so we went to the railroad museum instead.
This is a large old cotton warehouse along the railroad which is being remodeled to add on the children's museum. The job site was interesting to explore.
A working hand car with about a hundred yards of track to move the cart across.
The museum is on an old railroad manufacturing site where they would build cars and then set them onto the railroads. So there was lots of land around and allowed Z to run and play outside.
Port Wentworth, GA is the town we actually live closest to, it is just on the Chatham side of the county line. Pretty cool to see these very old passenger rail cars from the local area.
About a dozen rail cars were connected by grated and Zachary just ran around from car to car. It was great to have the place to ourselves, almost scary for a little while.
This is the building the old steam engines were built in and they have an example engine. Z enjoyed the rocks on the floor instead of the impressive engine.
And of course the museum would not be complete without a model train set.
Overall Z and I had a great Z and Mama Day and we plan to do this regularly in some form.
